Business Model Innovation in the Cultural, Creative & Audiovisual Industries

An informative and inspirational talk on business model innovation, led by Ellen O'Hara, which will begin with an introduction to the concept of business modeling and some common frameworks.  Ellen will share key business model trends and examples from the UK perspective, illustrate the business model innovation processes, and approaches that cultural, creative and audiovisual companies can adapt and apply. This is followed by a group workshop activity in which participants will explore some of the common challenges shared across industries and have the opportunity to develop solutions collectively.  The talk and workshop will benefit leaders and companies from the cultural, creative and audiovisual industries seeking inspiration and ideas on how to develop their business models.

 

Ellen O'Hara is is a freelance business coach, facilitator, strategist and published researcher with a background in cultural and creative entrepreneurship, incubation, new business models and access to finance.  She applies coaching, startup methodology and design thinking to foster a more entrepreneurial approach to leadership and change.  Recent clients include the Nesta/Arts Council England Digital Arts & Culture Accelerator, Creative Industry Finance, Business & Arts South Africa, Innovate UK, National Arts Council Singapore and PACT, is the trade association representing the commercial interests of UK independent television, film, digital, children’s and animation media companies in the UK.  Ellen previously held roles at award-winning craft incubator Cockpit Arts, the Prince's Trust and Arts Council England.  She began her career in management consultancy at Arthur Andersen.  She is a Clore Leadership Fellow 2014/15, SFEDI accredited coach, Fellow of the RSA and holds a degree in Economics & Econometrics from the University of Birmingham.  She works internationally and is based in the Derbyshire Dales.
