CREATIVES UNITE: Artists and Creatives Community COVID-19 Resource Platform
Creatives Unite launched to connect and share Covid-related information and responses among cultural and creative sectors. The new platform, Creatives Unite offers a common space for all those looking for information about cultural and creative sector initiatives responding to the coronavirus crisis. It gives access in one single space to the multitude of existing resources and numerous relevant networks and organisations. It also offers a space to co-create and upload contributions towards finding solutions together.
Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth said:
“The Coronavirus is having a devastating economic impact on the cultural and creative sectors. This online platform will provide a forum for cultural and creative sectors to share ideas and initiatives and co-create solutions thanks to their creativity in response to the crisis. A platform by the sector, for the sector.”
Rather than overlapping with the existing initiatives in the sector, the platform strives to provide a common point of access for information on cultural and creative initiatives in response to the crisis, and directing to the relevant websites of the respective networks, organizations and initiatives. The platform offers curated space to co-create and upload contributions towards finding solutions together.
The platform has been launched with the support of the Commission, as a follow up to the EU Culture Ministers’ video conference of 8 April where Commissioner Gabriel announced the initiative.
The project Creative FLIP helps to run and curate the Platform. Creative FLIP is a pilot project of the European Parliament, managed by the European Commission. This Pilot Project is implemented by the Goethe Institut in cooperation with the European Creative Hubs Network and several partners.

COVID-19 Deklaration der EU-KulturministerInnen
Am 8. April 2020 fand eine informelle Videokonferenz der EU-KulturministerInnen statt, in welcher ein Austausch über die Auswirkungen der Corona-Krise auf den Kultur- und Kreativsektor, diesbezügliche nationale Maßnahmen und mögliche Schritte auf EU-Ebene erfolgte. Als Follow-up wurde vom kroatischen EU-Ratsvorsitz eine Deklaration vorbereitet, die am 30. April 2020 auf der Website des Ratsvorsitzes veröffentlicht wurde.
Die Deklaration wurde von 26 EU-KulturministerInnen unterzeichnet, nur Ungarn hat sich nicht der Deklaration angeschlossen. Österreich hat sich für die Flexibilität des Creative Europe Programms und Digitalisierungsinitiativen eingesetzt, was schließlich in die finale Fassung der Deklaration aufgenommen wurde.

Videokonferenz der EU-KulturministerInnen am 8. April 2020
Die EU-KulturministerInnen diskutierten erstmals per Video die Auswirkungen der COVID-19-Pandemie auf den Kunst- und Kultursektor und erörterten mögliche Maßnahmen zur Milderung der negativen Auswirkungen der Krise. Solidarität und anhaltende gemeinsame Anstrengungen sind notwendig, um den Kunst- und Kultursektor nachhaltig abzusichern.
Für “Creative Europe” wurde seitens der Europäischen Kommission größtmögliche Flexibilität zugesichert. Als erster Schritt wurden laufende Calls verlängert und neue adaptiert. Eine für Mai geplante Ausschreibung im Bereich darstellende Kunst (€ 2 Mio) wird einen Schwerpunkt auf online und virtuelle Maßnahmen setzen. Für MEDIA wurde im Rahmen von „Europa Cinemas“ eine Förderung für Kinos (€ 5 Mio) angekündigt. Für laufende Creative Europe-Projekte besteht die Möglichkeit, sich im Fall von Absagen oder Verschiebungen auf die „Force Majeure“-Klausel zu berufen, Projektträger werden gebeten, mit ihrem EACEA-Project Officer in Kontakt zu treten.
Die Europäische Kommission plant, eine Plattform für Stakeholder einzurichten, über die „Best Practices“ ausgetauscht und Maßnahmen vorgeschlagen werden können. Über die Social Media Kampagne #CreativeEuropeAtHome# sind Projektträger dazu aufgerufen, bestehendes Material online zu stellen.
